Did you know

Focus is filming a TV drama called Pom Lon (Haunted Night).

Inspired by true stories from listeners who called into the Club Friday radio show to ask for advice about their relationships, the Club Friday TV series has been massive success for three seasons.

Because of that success, the programme’s director, Saithip Montrikul Na Ayudhaya (DJ Chod), recently decided to launch Club Friday the Series 4: Rue Rak Tae Cha Pae….. (Is True Love Destroyed By…..). The star-studded series explores themes of differences in points of view, language and age, which can sometimes cause problems in relationships.

TRUE STORIES

On April 24, DJ Chod, producer Worarit Waijiaranai and actors from Club Friday the Series 4 held a press conference at GMM Grammy to talk about latest series. DJ Chod said that for the previous seasons of the show, the focus was on how viewers talked about the series rather than focusing on high ratings.

“Viewers criticised and analysed the show, and some questioned whether it was really based on true stories,” DJ Chod said. “But it was actually all inspired by true stories.”

CONTROL FREAK

Actors from the series took turns talking about their characters and how they felt about their roles.

The talented young actor Jirayu La-ongmanee (Kao) stars with cute actress Focus Chirakul, and Kao plays a control freak named U. He forbids his girlfriend to doing things like wearing short skirts, putting on make-up and using a mobile phone.

“U is an interesting character because in real life, we it’s often girls who try to control their boyfriends,” Kao said. “I’d never played a role like this before.”

LANGUAGE BARRIER

Pretty actress Sushar Manaying (Aom) plays a Thai woman who dates an English-speaking guy, played by newcomer Kirin Simon Young.

“This couple has a lot of differences in language and culture, and the father of my character isn’t happy with the relationship at all,” Aom said. “But in real life, I’m fine with this kind of relationship.”

AGE GAP

Veteran actor Patiparn Pataweekarn (Mos) plays a guy dates a woman who is nine years younger than him, played by Napat Banchongchitpaisal (Yeepoon).

“The couple are attracted each other because of appearances,” Mos said. “Other guys might be jealous because he’s dating a younger woman, but after a while he feels annoyed because she often acts like a spoiled child.”

ON AIR

Club Friday the Series 4 has been on air since May 2. The final episode will be shown on July 18. The series can be seen on Channel One, Green Channel and on YouTube.
