Happy anniversary

On April 28, fireworks light up the sky in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin district in celebration of the 64th wedding anniversary of Their Majesties the King and Queen. The celebrations were part of the 5th Hua Hin Rumluek Fair held annually from April 26 to May 3.

Five arrested in card scam

Five Malaysians were arrested on charges of making fake ATM cards to withdraw money in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district. The group stole about 50 million baht in total.

The suspects were apprehended after withdrawing money from a Siam Commercial Bank ATM at the Odean Fashion Mall on April 25, Central Investigation Bureau official Noraboon Naenna said on April 28.

Most of the fake ATM cards were found to have used data from French-issued credit cards.


Storm warning

Bad weather to hit Thailand

The Meteorological Department on April 28 issued summer storm warnings for several regions in early May.

Regions likely to be affected include the north, northeast, east and the central parts of Thailand. The department warned residents in these areas to take precautions, saying that the storms are potentially life-threatening and could cause severe damage to property.

A storm in Kalasin province on April 28 brought strong winds that damaged up to 150 houses. The Baan Kumphai community in Muang district was worst affected.

Illegal migrants were arrested

Seventy-one illegal migrants were arrested. They were Burmese workers. It happened in Ranong. They were on their way to Phuket, Surat Thani, Songkhla and Malaysia, police said.
