Robbers steal millions of baht

Armed robbers stole five million baht from the crew of an armoured truck as they were loading banknotes into an ATM in Chon Buri’s Muang district on July 31.

Police said at least five armed assailants robbed an armoured truck belonging to Samco Co Ltd. Samco was delivering banknotes to an ATM in front of a Tesco Lotus Express. The driver, 42-year-old Chamlong Duangkeaw, as well as guards Taweep Sukmuang, 24, and Phong-amorn Khamphukeaw, 23, were delivering the banknotes when they were robbed.

Phong-amorn said three men pointed guns at their heads, and forced them to lie face down on the ground. Police were investigating the case.


On the run

Seven foreigners arrested

Police successfully arrested seven French, Hungarian, Italian and Taiwanese suspects who fled to Thailand after allegedly committing crimes. They were nabbed by four teams of police from the Immigration Bureau at the end of July. Police reported the arrests on July 30.

French national Jornatan Piant, 40, smuggled marijuana from Spain to France in 2012. Hungarian national Antal Racz, 40, was involved in the death of two people in his home country in 2005. Italian national Francesco Galdelli, 52, was arrested for fraud and selling pirated goods in Italy, while four Taiwanese nationals were arrested for allegedly running an illegal call centre in Cambodia.

Speed stopped

Six arrested with drugs

Six men were arrested for trafficking one million speed pills. It happened on July 26.There were travelling from Loei to Bangkok. The traffickers received the pills from a trader in Loei, police said.
