Did you know

Last year, Yesung had a lead role in the TV series, Awl.

Of the five sub-groups formed from K-pop sensation Super Junior, K.R.Y. are the only one to focus on ballads. The group takes three vocalists from the 11-member boy band — Kyuhyun, 27, Ryeowook, 28 and Yesung, 31 — and uses their distinctive voices to create the perfect combination onstage. While Yesung’s voice is husky and powerful, Kyuhyun magnetises audiences with his sweet singing and Ryeowook wows the crowd with his high notes and steady voice.

SWEET GREETING

On December 12 and 13, the trio brought their beautiful show — Super Junior K.R.Y. Asia Tour: Phonograph in Bangkok — to Thai fans. Despite the show having no dance songs, there was never a dull moment. At Thunderdome, their fan club, E.L.F., screamed to welcome the trio who appeared one by one to sing their opening medley of ”Hanamizuki,” “Coagulation” and “Let’s Not.” The guys greeted their fans after singing “My Love, My Kiss, My Heart” and “(…ing).”

The trio asked E.L.F. if they missed them. Ryeowook told the fans in Thai that he missed them and blew kisses to everybody. Kyuhyun asked fans how he looked because he was on a diet. Before Yesung spoke, there were long and extremely loud screams because he hasn’t visited Thailand for three years due to military service. Yesung said he really wanted to visit Thailand because the country means a lot to him. Then he spoke Thai and told fans he loved them.

ACTING TALENT

The guys not only showed off their stage skills but also presented their acting. They showed a video where they each acted in a heartbreaking story. In the videos, Kyuhyun falls in love with his best friend at university, Yesung plays a street performer who falls in love at first sight with a dog owner after the dog steals his money and Ryeowook is a producer who has a relationship with a singer. Their acting was good and the stories worked well with the crowd who were excited to see their favourite artists on screen with the pretty girls.

THAI TIME

The fans enjoyed the K-pop songs and sang along loudly, especially to Yesung’s “It Has to Be You,” but everybody was suddenly hyped up when Kyuhyun and Ryeowook belted out Thai songs during their solos. Kyuhyun sang Scrubb’s “Took Yang (Everything),” and was adorable as he let the fans sing some parts of the song and kept telling them the lyrics line by line. Ryeowook stunned the fans with Potato’s chart-topping song, “Thing Wai Klang Thang (Leave Me Midway)” and Stamp’s “Mun Kong Pen Kwam Rak (It Must Be Love).” The petite singer deserves a thumbs-up for his flawless performance. His clear pronunciation showed that he had dedicated lots of time to practice the songs.

MIRACLE MOMENT

During the two shows, the fans expressed their feelings toward their favourite artists by showing cards with messages for the trio. On December 13, Yesung was surprised when the E.L.F. told him that they hadn’t met him for 1,111 days. He realised that they were counting the days to see him again. He was touched and thanked them.

At the end of the show, Ryeowook impressed everybody once again by reading a long letter in Thai. He wanted to bring gifts, so he prepared Thai songs. The quiet singer believed that it was miracle to be with the fans, and he asked them to see him again next time.
