Did you know

Kacha will play a geologist in an upcoming TV series.

Even though Academy Fantasia Season 8 ended a few years ago, one of the show’s contenders, Nontanun Anchuleepradit (Kacha), has kept his loyal fans. Kacha is often nominated in contests like Bang Music Awards and Nine Entertainment Awards, and apart from making music, he has also started acting.

Last year, Kacha got a part in the TV series, Fly to Fin: Sood Ting Jingle Bell (Jingle Bell Band). Recently, the 25-year-old singer released his first album, Kacha Lonely Planet, which includes his hits and one new track, “Ror Chan Yoo Trong Nan (Wait for Me There),” featuring rapper Golf Hero.

Student Weekly met up with Kacha to talk about his songwriting and his interesting hobby.

Student Weekly: Is it true that you wrote “Wait for Me There” while on holiday in Japan?

Kacha: Yes, I finished the melody before leaving Japan. It’s easiest to write lyrics when I feel relaxed. In Shizuoka, after visiting an onsen, I saw a full moon. It inspired me to write the song, which is about a person waiting for love.

Student Weekly: How did you feel after releasing the single?

Kacha: I felt proud because it finally happened. As a singer and musician, I should be able to write lyrics and play instruments. I won’t stop now. There will be more.

Student Weekly: What had you written before “Wait for Me There”?

Kacha: I co-wrote songs when I was on Academy Fantasia. Since then I’ve written several songs but they haven’t been released. I often write about love. I’m inspired by Korean romantic series and the experiences of my friends.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy working with Golf Hero?

Kacha: It was fun. I had a great time talking to him. It’s really cool to have his fantastic lyrics in my song.

Student Weekly: Does your friend Tao like Kacha Lonely Planet?

Kacha: Yes, Tao is a good friend. He always helps me promote the album.

Student Weekly: Since many songs on the album are about loneliness, how do to get over feeling lonely?

Kacha: I enjoy feeling lonely. It’s good to have this kind of feeling, so I’m not an insensitive person. But I don’t feel lonely for very long because I have many things to do.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy acting in Jingle Bell Band?

Kacha: I enjoyed it and it felt great to try something new, but it was challenging. I learned how to interpret a script and how to work on a drama set. I can use this experience when I work on another series.

Student Weekly: What impressed you about Japan?

Kacha: I liked the weather, culture and food. The country is well organised.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy visiting the Naruto exhibition?

Kacha: It was great. I was thrilled to be there. The exhibition featured everything about the comic Naruto and how the illustrator and writer Masashi Kishimoto created it. There was even a model of his desk.

Student Weekly: How did you become interested in archery?

Kacha: I had an accident while playing football and had to wear a leg cast for a month. I saw an archery club near my home, so I decided to take a class. It took a while to get used to the equipment. To make a good shot, you have to concentrate and control your body. The more you practice, the better you get. It’s an enjoyable hobby.
