Under construction since 1985, the Luang Poh Khun Parisuttho Museum was finally officially opened to the public in 2009. Located in Dan Khun Tod district of Nakhon Ratchasima, the museum was built in honour of famous Thai monk, Khun Parisuttho. It is composed of nine zones, each of which is dazzlingly decorated and full of artistic atmosphere.

For Freeze Frame this week, SW explores some of the museum’s highlights.

In the main hall stands a golden bhodi tree statute, which is a symbol of Buddhism.

This zone displays several paintings by celebrated artist Samphan Sararak, who dedicated some of his artworks to honour Luang Poh Khun.

Luang Poh Khun is famed for his collection of sacred objects. This zone shows part of his collection of amulets.

This exhibit displays an elegantly embellished golden talapat, or Buddhist fan.

On the ceiling of this hall is the word Khun written in Thai. Below the word stands a portrait of Luang Poh Khun.

Luang Pho Khun Museum is situated at Baan Rai Temple in Dan Khun Tod district of Nakhon Ratchasima. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. Entrance is free. For more information, call 044 253113 or 044 249 8888.
