Hot topic

Why is it so hot in Thailand lately? I know that it's summer and that it is always hot and humid at this time of year, but it really seems much hotter than ever before. And I can't even remember the last time it rained in Bangkok.

Do you think it might be because of global warming? Anyway, I really hope some rain and cooler weather comes soon!

Nat Wong, Bangkok

You're not the only one who's been feeling the heat, Nat. I'm pretty sure this is the hottest weather I've ever felt in Thailand. Sometimes sitting outside feels exactly like sitting in a sauna! — Editor

KIND CASHIER

I went shopping at Tops supermarket with my cousin, nephew and niece. My lovely nephew was so naughty! He played in a trolley and knocked something off the shelf. A bottle of chilli paste was broken, and my cousin said to my nephew that he should not be naughty and hurt his mom, who has to pay for something not necessary.

My cousin told the truth to the cashier about her son breaking the chilli paste bottle. The cashier said that it was alright. My cousin did not have to pay for it, and the cashier asked the little kid if he was hurt. I think it was very kind of the cashier.

Pensinee Fuangfoowongrhat, Bangkok

It sounds like you had an eventful shopping experience, Pensinee. It was nice of the staff there to take it so well, especially since your nephew was obviously playing up. At least nobody was hurt, and I guess supermarkets are insured for those kinds of minor accidents and breakages. — Editor

ART ATTACK

Recently I went to an art gallery in Bangkok. There were some very delicate sculptures on display in one room. There were a lot of them on stands about a metre high.

I saw one guy who was trying to take a photo of one of the sculptures. He kept walking backwards, looking through his camera to get a better view, until he accidently backed into one of the other stands. The sculpture on that stand crashed to the floor and smashed into many pieces!

I felt sorry for the guy, even though he should have been more careful. He was obviously very embarrassed and sorry about breaking the sculpture!

Tent Sangkaew, Bangkok

I agree Tent, that guy must have felt pretty bad and embarrassed! Accidents happen, unfortunately. Let's just hope that the sculpture he broke wasn't a priceless Picasso or something similar! — Editor
