Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani are southern provinces of Thailand. As well as boasting scenic beaches, the two adjacent provinces are renowned for the simple way of life of the locals.
For this week’s Freeze Frame, SW visits some of the sights at these pretty provinces.

On the 1st and 15th each month, a street in central Pak Pha-nang district in Nakhon Si Thammarat is closed to traffic and turned into a market where residents sell local food, handicrafts and desserts. One recommended dish is phad mee pak phanang (Pak Phanang fried noodle). |

Visitors are encouraged to cruise along the Pak Pha-nang River in Nakhon Si Thammarat to explore scenic views and ways of life along the river. |

Phra Mahathat Voramahaviharn Temple is one of the most renowned temples in Nakhon Si Thammarat. |
