Winning streak
Rafael Nadal reduced Roger Federer to tears when he won the Australian Open final recently. It was Nadal's first Grand Slam title win on a hard court.
Nadal, now the world No. 1, miraculously recovered from his five-hour semi-final to take the final match 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7/3), 3-6, 6-2 in four hours and 23 minutes.
Nadal now joins Andre Agassi as the only players in the past 24 years to have won Grand Slam titles on all three court surfaces — clay, grass and hard.
For Nadal, the victory was proof that he is a better player than Federer. Beating somebody as good as Federer five straight times is a huge achievement. Nadal is now more than 3,000 points ahead of Federer in the ATP world rankings.
