K-pop stars meet Starlight

Boy band VIXX have managed to stand out from the K-pop crowd by always having an interesting image to present to their fans. The six-member group is famous for their distinctive outfits and performances.

In 2012, the group was made up to look like vampires to perform their dance single, “On and On.” A year later, VIXX started becoming more popular with the release of their hit dance song, “Voodoo Doll.” Since then, the group has topped charts with smash hits like “Eternity” and “Error.”

PRESS PARTY

While promoting their album Error internationally, VIXX held a fan meeting in the Land of Smiles called VIXX Wish You Be My Starlight New Year Party on January 4.

A day before the fan meeting, the guys — leader N, 24, Leo, 24, Ken, 22, Ravi, 21, Hongbin, 21 and Hyuk, 19 — met up with Thai press at Aetas Lumpini Hotel. At the beginning of the press conference, the stars looked serious and behaved formally, but Thai MC DJ Que managed to break the ice by making jokes until Leo complimented the MC for his sense of humour.

EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE

During the opening set at the fan meeting, which was held at Central Plaza Chaengwattana, VIXX performed their hits “Error” and “Voodoo Doll.” Rapper Ravi said that it was the first time the group had performed these songs in Thailand.

VIXX then performed the emotional ballad, “Blue Blossom,” which Ravi said that they had never sung live before.

SEXY MOVES

The highlight of the meeting was when the guys played games and the losers had to perform some sexy dance moves. Ravi lost in first round, but being a main dancer in the group, he had no trouble pulling off some hot dance moves. In the other rounds, everybody except Hongbin and Hyuk lost the games. Leo had a hard time trying to dance sexily. Hyuk held Leo’s hands for some seductive moves, but Leo was too stiff to dance along.

Here is some of what VIXX had to say during their press interview and fan meeting.

Question: What are your hopes for 2015?

Hyuk: I hope we can have more performances onstage. I also hope more people accept VIXX.

N: I’d like to play a leading character in a TV drama. I’d also like to communicate more with our fans this year. I want VIXX to become a top K-pop group.

Ravi: I’d like to become a good producer and write better songs.

Hongbin: I want to be able to compose songs that everybody understands and enjoys.

Question: What kind of present you would like to give to the other members of VIXX?

Leo: I’d like to give them vitamins.

Hyuk: If my wish came true, I’d give them money. Leo would get money first because he needs it to buy vitamins! [Laughs.] Vitamins aren’t expensive, but Leo doesn’t have any money.

Question: Do you have any special message for your fans?

Hyuk: Today will be a great memory because I got to meet our Starlight fans in Thailand. Everybody gave us great energy, so VIXX will give energy back to you.

N: Thank you for giving us some good memories. You guys always give us great encouragement. We will stay together forever.
