Did you know

Last year, Hunz was an ambassador for Million Gifts Million Smiles, which donated gifts to kids in Thailand’s three southern border provinces.

Among the 10 songs featured on the compilation album of cover songs Frontage Freeform, the remake of Tata Young’s song “Sak Ka Nid (Little Bit)” stands out as a chart-topping hit. The new version of the song was performed by 26-year-old Isariya Patharamanop (Hunz), who became well-known on The Star 8, and 18-year-old rookie singer Temfah Krisanayuth (Pan Pan).

Heart-throb Hunz attracted many listeners to the duo’s intriguing version of “Little Bit” with the rap part that he wrote. Pan Pan has also been praised for her fine singing and dancing in the stylish black and white music video.

Student Weekly recently chatted with Hunz and Pan Pan at the Frontage label office about their music and their busy lives.

Student Weekly: How did you feel about covering a famous song like “Little Bit”?

Pan Pan: It’s an honour to sing Tata’s song. Hopefully we can attract young people to listen to a great old song.

Hunz: It was challenging. This song is very famous, so it was hard to do it in our own way. We came up with different choreography and added a rap part.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy working with each other?

Hunz: Pan Pan is the daughter of veteran singer Waen Thitima, so I’ve known her for a long time. We also worked together at a Bird Thongchai concert. Pan Pan has improved in all areas, including her beauty and her skills.

Pan Pan: I remembered Hunz as a handsome dance trainer with impressive skills. I admired him because I couldn’t dance at that time. Hunz is now a great all-rounder.

Student Weekly: Hunz, do you have any advice for young performers like Pan Pan?

Hunz: Pan Pan is mature for her age. She has a bright future ahead of her. I’d recommend that she develops her own unique style. In the past, I wanted to be like other celebrities, but I eventually found out that it’s best to be yourself, because nobody else can be like you.

Student Weekly: What does dancing mean to you?

Hunz: I first got involved with dancing when I was forced to be a cheerleader at school. At that time, I didn’t like it because people had a negative attitude toward male cheerleaders. But dancing is now a part of my life. It’s what I love and do best.

Pan Pan: Dancing is a great way to express who we are.

Student Weekly: Pan Pan, do you ever miss being a national gymnastic athlete?

Pan Pan: Yes. It was a time in my life that I’m very proud of, but I am also happy with what I’m doing now.

Student Weekly: Hunz, do you enjoy acting in the sitcom Nat Kab Nat [Nat and Nat]?

Hunz: I like comedy. Working on a comedy isn’t as stressful as working on a drama. But it’s sometimes difficult to play my character Joonza because he’s a quiet gentleman, which isn’t like me at all.

Student Weekly: Pan Pan, is it true that you like to read English language novels?

Pan Pan: Yes. It’s a fun way to improve my English language skills. I started by reading Harry Potter when I was younger. If there’s a movie based on a book, I usually see the movie first and then read the book. That way, I know what the main characters look like and I can focus on the details of the story in the book.

Student Weekly: Hunz, what did you do during your recent trip to Tokyo?

Hunz: I went to see a dance school where my team and I will be trained in the future. While I was watching a class there, I felt that dancing was like a language that people can use to communicate with one another. Dancers in Japan are very competitive. When they hold an audition for a music video, there will be 300 to 400 dancers completing for the part. We don’t have that kind of competition in Thailand.

Student Weekly: Do you have any special message for our readers?

Pan Pan: I hope that people who know the original version of “Little Bit” will listen to our version. The song isn’t only for young people. My mother also listens to it and dances along!

Hunz: Please support the Frontage Freeform album. Many of the artists who worked together on this album have totally different styles, and that created new ideas. I think our song is good for people who want to have fun and feel free.
