Rescue workers search for the body of Pongthorn Janthong, 38, who is believed to have drowned when a long-tailed passenger boat he was travelling in crashed into another in Khlong Si Thien Thalae in Bang Khunthien district on August 31.

Headless corpses found
Police discovered the headless bodies of two foreigners floating near a beach in Pattaya.
A man was found about 500 metres from Koh Sak, while a woman was floating off Pattaya beach on August 28.
Police located an abandoned yacht about 800 metres from the female body. The yacht had been rummaged through and has been impounded. Harbour records showed the yacht belonged to a Belgian national who brought it into shore for repairs in Pattaya, police said.
An autopsy will be carried out to determine whether the pair were murdered or committed suicide.

Policeman under investigation
The superintendent of Bangkok’s Wat Phraya Krai police station is under investigation and has been moved to an inactive post following raids that discovered illegal business operations in areas under his jurisdiction.
Assistant police chief Chakthip Chaijinda on August 31 signed an order to transfer Kiatnarong Chalermsuk to assist work at the Metropolitan Police Bureau for 30 days, starting September 1.
The transfer followed a military raid on X-Zyte pub on August 25. A team of soldiers conducting the raid found the pub was staying open after legal hours and allowing youths with no ID cards to enter.

Plane forced to land early
A Bangkok-bound flight from Nakhon Si Thammarat made an emergency landing. It happened on August 31. The plane was carrying 139 people. The Nok Air plane was forced to land at Surat Thani airport after a bird hit it. The plane landed safely.
