Vendors to be evicted
Vendors illegally occupying an area behind the historic Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit site in Ayutthaya face eviction, authorities said on January 29.
Ronnawud Ruangsawad, deputy chief of Ayutthaya’s Internal Security Operations Command has met Sayumpon Kulsu, head of the provincial Damrongtham Centre as well as military, administration and Fine Arts Department officials to find ways to evict them.
The area is in Ayutthaya Historical Park, a World Heritage site. Officials said the stalls encroach on public land. Authorities have set aside a new trading area less than a kilometre away near the old City Hall.

Health officials call for reform
A group of health workers has called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to reform health care in health-promoting hospitals in sub-districts in a bid to provide better quality treatment for patients.
Led by the head of the Tambon Health Promoting Hospital Club Somsak Jungtrakul, a group of more than 300 healthcare workers from local clinics in provinces and representatives from 14 health promotion networks on January 29 gathered at the Office of the Civil Service Commission to hand a letter to the Prime Minister, asking him to reform health care in clinics and hospitals in sub-districts.
The group also submitted the same letter to the Public Health Ministry on the same day.

Body of Danish woman found
An elderly woman’s body was found. It happened near Chang Island in Trat on January 28. A witness said she fell overboard from a ferry. The woman was from Denmark.
