Letter of the week

FAMILY FRIEND

Hello, I'm Guzz. Today I'm going to talk about my pet. My pet is a dog.

My dog's name is Tonhom. It is six years old. It is a small, mixed-breed dog with smooth brown hair. Tonhom is very friendly with my family but aggressive with strangers.

Tonhom likes to eat everything that people eat, especially grilled liver.

Pimphak Thaweewong,
Bangkok

Thanks for telling us about your dog, Guzz. It sounds like a cute pet, but if it really is always aggressive with strangers, maybe you should think about sending it for some training so that it learns how to be friendlier with people outside of your family. Good luck! — Editor

NOVEL IDEAS

Hello, I'm Piyathida. I want to talk about novels. A good novel can provide us with entertainment. I read every night before I go to bed.

I like reading novels from the Jamsai Publishing Company because they are fun stories about love. I hope that Jamsai will produce more novels every year.

Piyathida,
Bangkok

Reading is a great way to spend your spare time, Piyathida, and it's good to hear that you like to read every day. Once you discover a genre or a publisher that you like, it can be a lot of fun trying to discover other similar books or publishers that you might like. Keep up the good work. — Editor

LIKING LEARNING

Hello, my name is Poomon. I think English language is important because most people around the world use this language to communicate. Many Thai people want to use English fluently, including me. All schools in Thailand have English lessons to develop our English abilities. Everybody has their own way to practise their English skills.

I think if we can mix English language and our hobbies to develop our skills, we will enjoy it more and develop our skills quickly. For example, I practise my listening skills and learn new words by listening to English-language songs. But if you love to read, you can start to read your favourite novels in English.

I hope that everybody enjoys practising their English skills while doing their favourite hobbies.

Poomrapee Chuthumsatid,
via email

Thanks for your letter and the good advice, Poomrapee. As you say, combining something you have to learn with something you enjoy doing will make the learning a lot more fun. Hopefully one of the fun ways that young Thai people are developing their English language skills is by reading Student Weekly! — Editor
