In 1968, the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, featuring the Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, the Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and the Dirty Mac with Yoko Ono is filmed in London.

In 1998, Thai Airways Flight 261 crashes near Surat Thani Airport, killing 101 people. The pilot is thought to have lost control in poor weather conditions. Ninety passengers and 11 crew members die.

In 1964, American pop duo the Righteous Brothers releases one of their biggest hit singles, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". The song is later ranked No. 34 on the list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone.

In 1972, Apollo astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt begin the third and final extra-vehicular activity (EVA), or "Moonwalk," of Apollo 17. To date they are the last humans to set foot on the Moon.
