Monkeys enjoy the 27th Monkey Feast held in Lop Buri on November 29. The annual feast is to thank the monkeys for the tourists they draw to the town.

Suspect surrenders to police

Two men were arrested and a taxi driver turned himself in on November 29 for allegedly robbing a Myanmar man and molesting his pregnant wife, police said.

Police caught Chalee Nukhaow, 37, and Sarawut Lopieow, 30, in Phetchbun province after officers tracked down the suspects from CCTV images. The taxi driver Anan Iamlaor later turned himself in to police.

The suspects are accused of robbing the man and fleeing in the taxi with his wife still inside.


Crooked candidates

Charter bans election jailbirds

People who have served jail sentences for serious crimes or who are being detained by a court order are likely to be banned from standing in a general election under a new charter.

Norachit Sinhaseni, spokesman of the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC), said on November 27 that the proposed ban is the panel's attempt to raise eligibility standards for election candidates.

Normally, people found guilty of election fraud or corruption are prohibited from vying for House seats.

Thieves attack bicycle

A Russian woman was robbed. It happened in Phuket on November 28. She was riding a bicycle. Two robbers kicked her bike, then stole her cellphone and 400 baht in cash.
