To go with the world’s biggest sporting event of this year, the One Love, One Rhythm: The 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Album was recently released. The music on the album reflects the atmosphere of host country Brazil and the festive mood of the World Cup.
Consisting of 14 tracks, with 2 bonus tracks on the deluxe version, the album features a mix of Brazilian and international pop stars. Famous names on the album include Pitbull, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Avicii, Santana and Ricky Martin.
The album’s first single is “We Are One (Ole Ola)” featuring Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian pop singer Claudia Leitte. Despite some complaints that the song lacked a Brazilian feel, it has been a big success as the official 2014 FIFA World Cup theme song.
Another album single is “Vida,” sung by Latin pop superstar Ricky Martin. It’s an upbeat track with exotic sounds that perfectly represent the song’s title, which means “life.” Instruments used on “Vida” include guitar, percussion, ukulele and horns. The song was written by Elijah King, an American songwriter who entered the song into a contest organised by FIFA and Sony Music.
The official 2014 FIFA World Cup anthem is the uplifting “Dar Um Jeito (We Will Find a Way)” by Santana and Wyclef Jean, and featuring Avicii and Alexandre Pires from Brazil. Another popular song from the album is “La La La (Brazil 2014), an upbeat dance song with a Brazilian feel by Shakira.
