Synth-pop queen

Swedish singer gets modern

Tove Lo
Queen of the Clouds
Universal Music Thailand

Tove Lo, the famous Swedish singer, recently released her first album, Queen of the Clouds. All songs come with dominant choruses and dancefloor-ready synth-pop sounds. A highlight is the hit “Habits (Stay High),” which won song of the year at the Swedish Grammis Awards.

The album is divided into three parts about sex, love and pain. Tove writes lyrics and songs by herself, and also invited famous songwriters to work with her.

The fifteen songs on Queen of the Clouds communicate with the audience directly because their lyrics reflect real modern life. “Habits (Stay High)” is about a girl who broke up with her boyfriend and found a way to forget him by watching freaky people in the clubs and spending her time drunk.

On the other hand, “Love Ballad” is about a woman who does everything to make a guy love her even if it is difficult.

All Tove’s songs tell tales that show both the bright and dark sides of people. Fans of brash lyrics and dancefloor beats will enjoy these modern love stories. —TC
