Released in 1995, Toy Story was the first computer-animated feature film.

RS digital TV on Channel 8 recently launched a new drama series called Mia Tuean (The Illicit Wife). Since going on the air last November, the show has become a big hit.

The Illicit Wife features a parade of well-known stars like Koy Ratchawin, Film Rattapoom, Punjan Prama and Janesuda Parnto. Also starring in the show is up-and-coming 21-year-old actress Krittaporn Hanyothin (Nan), who has impressed viewers in her role as a stubborn teenage girl.

Since she’s such a good actress, it’s no surprise that Nan is an avid film fan who goes to check out new movies at the cinema whenever she has spare time. Nan enjoys many different genres of film, including romantic dramas, action films, comedies and animated movies.

Student Weekly recently caught up with Nan to ask her about some of her favourite films.

Harry Potter film series (2001-2011)

“The Harry Potter films are some of my all-time favourites. The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was one of the first movies I ever saw at a cinema when I was a kid. It seemed to fulfill children’s fantasies at the time.

“The filmmakers did a wonderful job of bringing J.K. Rowling’s books to the big screen. They had magic, a hidden world, a wizard and a flying broomstick. I like the first four films the best. I haven’t seen the last film because I was too busy studying for my entrance exams when it came out. I later bought the DVD to watch at home, but I fell asleep halfway through the film!”

The Maze Runner (2014)

“I saw this movie three times at the cinema. First I watched it by myself, and then I told my friends about how good it was and saw it again with them.

“The Maze Runner is an action-packed, visually stunning film that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I like this type of story, where you can’t predict that how it will end. There’ll be a sequel coming out soon, so I don’t want to miss that.”

Dracula Untold (2014)

“One of my friends recommended this film, so I went to see it. I remember crying when the film finished. There were really good, touching moments in this movie.

“Dracula Untold is an example of good story-telling, with a romantic tale mixed with themes of redemption, vengeance and courage. The main character does everything to protect his kingdom and his family. But if he gives in to his thirst, he will remain a beast for eternity.

“This film makes viewers want to know what’s going to happen next. It also shows what Dracula is really like.”

Percy Jackson film series (2010-2013)

“The Percy Jackson movies are another film series that I highly recommended if you love fantasy and action films. The films are about the adventures of Percy Jackson, a teenager who discovers he’s the son of the Greek God, Poseidon. Percy sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods.

“These movies are all pretty entertaining. They’re not too cheesy or predictable, but they’re mostly made for a teen audience. I also like the films because they star Logan Lerman. He’s so cute! [Laughs.]”

Monsters, Inc. (2001)

“Monsters, Inc. is my favourite computer-animated movie. I’m a fan of most of Pixar’s movies. They’ve made many incredible animated features over the years like Toy Story and A Bug's Life.

“I was very young when Monsters, Inc. came out and I remember everything in the film being super cute, especially the monsters, the kids and the dialogue. The ending is very touching, too. In 2013 there was a sequel called Monsters University, which was also great.”
