SW visits a historical site

Located in Phetchaburi, Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park was once used as a summer palace residence by King Rama IV. Built in 1859, the palace complex is divided into three zones built on three mountain peaks.

For Freeze Frame this week, SW explores this historical palace.

The Wechayan Wichien Prasat pavilion is decorated with stucco mouldings. Inside the pavilion is a statue of King Rama IV.

The Phetphum Phairot pavilion is the main hall of the palace, where King Rama IV held audience.

This Glass Dome was where King Rama IV observed stars and constellations.

On the right of Sala Dan Na pavilion stands a khon traditional performance stage.

King Rama IV’s bedroom is located inside the Pramot Mahaisawan pavilion, the upper floor of which boasts three rooms, including a dressing room and a bedroom.
