Pricing protest

Rubber and palm oil farmers listen to protest leaders as they resume a blockade of Phetkasem Road in Prachuap Khiri Khan on October 27. The farmers lashed out at the government for ignoring their calls for the rubber price to be guaranteed at 100 baht per kilogramme and palm oil at 6 baht per kilogramme.

Motorcycle races arrested

Fifty teenage motorcycle racers were arrested and 99 modified motorcycles seized in Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in district.

Police set up a roadblock on the Pathum Thani-Bang Pahan road in the district at around 2:30 am on October 27.

The suspects were charged with riding motorcycles without due care and illegally modifying the machines. The crackdown followed complaints from local residents.


Couriers caught

Three men arrested with drugs

Three men were caught with heroin and speed pills in Bung Kan on October 27.

Police were tipped-off that the suspects were transporting the drugs from Laos and would pass along the Bung Kan-Nakhon Phanom road.

Police waited on the road and spotted two men loading boxes into a car. Lerpong Mankul, 29, and 18-year-old Phitsanu Phochan fled when they saw the police but were later arrested. Driver Thawal Thongpratao, 39, was arrested inside the vehicle.

Police found 21 kilogrammes of heroin and 1,972 speed pills in the vehicle.

Fatal collision

Four killed at crossing

Four people were killed when their pickup truck was hit by a train. It happened in Phatthalung on October 27. The truck was crossing the train tracks. There was no railroad signal at the crossing.
