Thailand will soon be hosting the world’s biggest dentistry conference, which is expected to attract thousands of medical professionals from all around the world.

Read the following story from the Bangkok Post to learn more about this meeting.

Around 5,000 dentists from more than 100 countries will discuss oral health issues at the 103rd Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) Annual World Dentist Congress (AWDC), which is scheduled to be held in Thailand for the first time.

Adirek Sriwattanawongsa, president of the Dental Association of Thailand (DAT) and chairman of the organising committee for the FDI AWDC, said on April 17 that the event will bring dentists from all over the world to share oral knowledge and experience with their colleagues.

The conference will also offer an opportunity for Thailand to present advanced dental developments to the international community.

GOOD REPUTATION

The FDI AWDC is organised by the DAT with the FDI World Dental Federation, the world’s leading dental organisation, representing the profession.

“There are several reasons why Thailand is in good position to host the event. One of them is the good reputation of our dental services,” Adirek said. “We are a good choice to be the host because we treat our patients professionally and ethically.”

WORLD LEADER

About 30 percent of complex-treatment dental services in Thailand are occupied by foreign patients, with the rate closer to 70 percent in some dental clinics. Some foreign patients visit Thailand regularly for dental services, according to the DAT. Thailand is also a leader in its field for dental implants, bone grafts and dental engine production, the DAT president said.

HIGH-TECH DISPLAYS

The FDI AWDC will be held on September 22 to 25 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre. There will be demonstrations of dental technology and innovations during the conference. Adirek said that Royal projects, such as the contribution of free dental implants for Thai patients, will also be exhibited.
