Did you know

Jonghyun won the new star award at last year’s SBS Drama Awards.

The four gorgeous guys in rock band CN Blue — vocalist and guitarist Jung Yonghwa, 23, vocalist and guitarist Lee Jonghyun, 23, bassist Lee Jungshin, 21 and drummer Kang Minhyuk, 21 — may look like models, but they’re not just pretty faces. CN Blue have consistently won over audiences their fierce and skillful live performances onstage.

After the huge success of their latest album, Re:Blue, the band embarked on their CN Blue Blue Moon World Tour, which included a performance in the City of Angels.

MAXIMUM IMPACT

When CN Blue hit the stage at Impact Arena on May 4, fans welcomed them with loud screams. The guys wasted no time launching into scorching versions of their rock songs “Where You Are,” “Get Away” and “One Time.”

The normally playful Yonghwa looked a bit sick and unhappy, so the Boice fan club members cheered enthusiastically for him to cheer him up. When Yonghwa asked fans to sing “Wake Up” with the band, Boice were more than happy to sing loudly and wave their blue light sticks in the air.

EMOTIONAL MOMENT

Despite Yonghwa looking depressed, his powerful voice was steady throughout the concert. He sang the emotional song “Feeling” while playing the keyboard beautifully.

After performing 17 songs, the guys left the stage when they finished singing their hit single, “I’m Sorry.”

HAPPY ENDING

During the encore, as CN Blue sang “Hey You,” Boice replaced their blue light sticks with white lights. They held up a sign that read, “Let’s Promise,” and there was also a big banner in a hall with “To See You in Thailand Again” written on it.

The boys in the band were clearly impressed with the project, especially the beautiful white lights. Boice’s effort even encouraged Yonghwa to smile. Before singing the last song, “Try Again, Smile Again,” the band leader said that he would try to smile to make everybody happy.

At the end of the concert, Yonghwa thanked the fans for their special project, adding that it was a concert the band would never forget.

At CN Blue’s press meeting at Aetas Lumpini Hotel, Jungshin tried to teach the press how to say, “Do you miss me?” in Korean. When most people couldn’t get it, he decided to teach the simpler word for “hello” instead. Here’s what else the guys had to say.

Question: Why does your tour title refer to Blue Moon?

Minhyuk: A blue moon is a second full moon in a single month, which only happens once every two to three years. For us, it represents a new start.

Question: How do you feel about the songs written by Jonghyun and Yonghwa, “Blind Love,” “With Your Eyes” and “Greedy Man,” topping the charts in Japan?

Jonghyun: We have to thank our fans for liking our songs. We’re now writing new songs, so we hope our fans continue to support us.

Question: Is there much difference when you perform in different countries?

Jonghyun: No. Everybody has fun wherever we perform.

Yonghwa: Our fans can sing every one of our songs. Sometimes they can even remember the lyrics better than me!

Question: Which concert has been your most unforgettable so far?

Jonghyun: In Singapore, fans made Korean language signs. It made me feel really good to see foreign fans writing signs in Korean. I’d love to see something like that in Thailand as well.

Yonghwa: I’m sure Thai fans can do it!

Jonghyun: Another surprise is that fans usually know our schedule before we do. We have no idea how they find out, but we’re always happy when they come out to support us.
