Bang Phlat, one of the 50 districts of Bangkok, is famed for its religious architecture, centuries-old temples and beautiful historical sites.

This week’s Freeze Frame explores some of the well-known tourist attractions in the district.

Mai Thepnimitr Temple’s highlights include paintings of traditional Thai deva holding swords embellishing the four doors in front of the ordination hall.

Built by celebrated Monk Pin in 1807, Noi Nang Hong Temple houses the sacred statute of Phra Khru Anukoonphitthaya, also known as Luang Phu Seng Inthasaro.

Bang Yi Khan Temple was built in the Ayutthaya Period. Its sema statutes are cared from red sandstone. The murals depict a gathering of deva and various scenes from the Lord Buddha’s life.

Next to Bang Yi Khan Temple are two famous restaurants. One sells noodles while the other sells Hainanese-style chicken rice.

Situated in Bangk Yi Khan sub-district, Daowaduengsaram Temple boasts walls made of solid teak, marble floors and murals depicting the life of the Lord Buddha.
