Did you know

Pinocchio has the same production team as I Hear Your Voice.

After starting out as a young model back in 2005, Lee Jong Suk pursued an acting career and became a rising star when he played Go Nam Soon, a complicated character in the popular TV drama, School 2013.

Jong Suk was praised by critics for his ability to develop believable chemistry with the other actors in the drama. He finally won the best new actor prize at the 2012 KBS Drama Awards.

STAR POWER

With his natural acting ability, the 25-year-old star reached new levels of popularity when he played Park Soo Ha, a character with the supernatural ability to read people’s thoughts in the award-winning TV drama, I Hear Your Voice. Since the massive success of that show, Jong Suk has been considered one South Korea’s top actors. His latest drama, Pinocchio, has also been well-received by viewers and critics alike.

FAN FAVOURITE

Like many Korean stars, Jong Suk has held fan meetings internationally, with Thailand being one of the countries on his list. On November 1, Jung Suk met up with his Thai fans at the With JS at 2014 Lee Jong Suk Asia Tour Fan Meeting in Thailand event at Central World’s Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre.

Though Jong Suk is a man of few words, he took part in a long interview session about his work. The actor warmed the hearts of his fans with his quiet personality, big smile and gentle nature.

SPEED DATING

One of the highlights at the meeting was the 120 second date with Jong Suk, where lucky fans got to sit at a table with the actor and do whatever they wished. Some fans asked to hold Jong Suk’s hand as they chatted and took pictures with the star.

At the end of the event, Jung Suk sang his favourite slow song, “I Will Give You All.” Though his singing wasn’t as perfect as his acting, the fans adored it and appreciated Jong Suk’s effort.

Here are some highlights from Jong Suk’s interviews at both the fan meeting and the press conference which took place at the Aetas Bangkok Hotel the day before.

Question: Have you visited Thailand before?

Jong Suk: Yes. I’ve been here a couple times and I’ve visited Phuket before. It was spectacular but unfortunately I didn’t have much time there. I’d like to visit Phuket again if possible.

Question: How do you feel about your Thai fans?

Jong Suk: I’m overwhelmed by the warm welcome I’ve received from my Thai fans. I feel thankful that my fans have kept up with my work and that they give me so much love. Visiting Thailand is like an adventure where I get to meet new people and see new things. I’m very happy.

Question: How do you feel about having your first fan meeting in Thailand?

Jong Suk: I’m used to acting, but I’m still not good at public speaking. I’ll try my best to make my fans feel comfortable at the meeting.

Question: Is @jongsuk0206 your Instagram account?

Jong Suk: Yes. I added 0206 to my account name because I applied for my Instagram account on February 6 when I was in Phuket. I’m not very good at updating my social network sites, so I don’t post things very often.

Question: Which part of your body do you like best?

Jong Suk: Probably the mole under my eye. If I choose my six-pack, I’d have to keep exercising to maintain it. I’m too exhausted to exercise all the time and I’ve gained weight now.

Question: What is your ideal type of woman?

Jong Suk: I like an intelligent woman that I can count on. She must also really love me and think that I’m important to her.

Question: If you had the ability to read minds like the character Park Soo Ha, whose thoughts would you like to read?

Jong Suk: I wouldn’t want that kind of power. If somebody smiled at you and you knew that they were really thinking the opposite of how they looked, it would be bad because you’d have to be nice to them anyway.

Question: Which scene in I Hear Your Voice was your favourite?

Jong Suk: The kissing scene. It was a beautiful scene that looked like something from a comic book, but it was very tiring to do because I had to carry the actress until we found a beautiful angle. It took a long time.

Question: How did you feel about showing your six-pack in the TV drama, Doctor Stranger?

Jong Suk: I almost died! I had to work out a lot to get a six-pack. I was totally worn out.

Question: Can you tell us about your current TV drama, Pinocchio?

Jong Suk: My character Choi Dal Po is a reporter. He’s a complicated character. I’d like everybody to check out this drama because the character features all the outstanding elements of my previous roles, but he looks very ugly. It’s fun working on the set of Pinocchio. I’ve learned a lot.

Question: How do you feel about Park Shin Hye, the lead actress in Pinocchio?

Jong Suk: She’s gorgeous, charming and nice. We first met when we were taking pictures together for an advertisement. She helped me out when we did interviews together because I wasn’t good at talking!
