Did you know

Rose wrote lyrics for her song “Last Memory.”

Sirintip Hanpradit (Rose) is a performer who always guarantees top-quality singing and a great ability to express the emotional feelings of her songs.

Rose’s latest single, “Pra Yok Bok Lerk (Break-up Sentence),” was included on The Ladies, a special album featuring many well known female singers. To promote the heartbreaking song, a video was made featuring a story about two university students who have a sexual relationship. Due to its strong themes, the video was unfortunately banned on free-to-air television. Despite that, the 31-year-old singer has been busy touring around the country singing her emotional hit.

Student Weekly recently met up with Rose at GMM TV. The friendly singer told us about her latest single, the controversial video and her experiences overseas.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your song “Break-up Sentence”?

Rose: I liked the song since the first time I heard it. I like to sing songs that represent my understanding of different issues as a grown-up and reasonable person. But this song is emotional in a very feminine way. It’s about a woman who feels insecure because her boyfriend keeps talking about another woman. I’d never sung this kind of song before.

Student Weekly: How do you feel about the song’s video being banned on national television?

Rose: I’m a bit sad since my videos have never been censored before. A lot of TV dramas have stronger contents than my video. You can still see the video on YouTube and cable TV.

We tried to tackle the issue of sexual relationships among students. We also wanted to tell young people not to believe every word that people tell them. In the video, before having an affair, the guy tells the girl to trust him. They don’t use any contraception and the girl becomes pregnant. She thinks about having an abortion but eventually decides to keep the baby.

Student Weekly: What was it like performing in Brunei?

Rose: I performed at a cultural concert called Alai Pa Plern 2014, which was arranged to promote friendship between Thailand and Brunei. I was there with many other Thai singers, and we performed with singers from Brunei. There were a lot of Thai people at the concert and they enjoyed it.

Before the show, we had to dress up and perform our songs for a censorship board. Many of the dancers’ moves had to be changed because they were considered too sexy, and Natt The Star 10 was told that her skirt was too short. But they also complimented Natt on her great performance of a Brunei song.

Student Weekly: Is there any place that you particularly liked during your trip to the US?

Rose: I really liked the Grand Canyon. I went there as part of a work and travel programme for three months when I was a third year university student. I worked on the transportation desk at Bright Angel Lodge in the Grand Canyon National Park. It was a great experience. I had to provide information for tourists about hiking and other activities at the Grand Canyon. I also worked at a bakery shop because I wanted to save money. I didn’t go sightseeing much. It was great when I had a chance to go back and visit Bright Angel Lodge again.

Student Weekly: How did you feel about being a guest on the sitcom, Love on Air 2?

Rose: It was my first time acting. I enjoyed it a lot. I played a singer called Rose who was similar to me, except for the part where she gets mad at the DJ and expresses her emotions. I don’t generally get mad at people in real life. [Laughs.] I’d like to try acting again if I get a chance.

Student Weekly: Which place has been the most interesting for you to perform at so far?

Rose: There have been a lot of nice people and places. I recently had a school tour and I visited a school in Maha Sarakham. The students there really appreciated my performance. They were very nice and really happy to shake my hand.

Student Weekly: Do you have any special message for our readers?

Rose: “Break-up Sentence” is something new for me both musically and lyrically. Please check it out and if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to contact me at https://th-th.facebook.com/rosefanclub or IG and Twitter @rosesirintip. I really appreciate reading comments from listeners.
