Policeman arrested for abduction
A Don Muang police officer was arrested for alleged involvement in the abduction of Chinese-Cambodian businessman Chen Ji.
Suppanat Chuchaipanyapong, 45, was arrested by Metropolitan Police Bureau officers on November 22.
Chen, 27, was allegedly abducted from Baiyoke 2 Building in the Pratunam area on November 11 by several men, one of whom showed him a police ID card. The businessman was reportedly held for a 100-million-baht ransom.
On November 15, Chen sent a message to his driver telling him he had been released in Cambodia the day before and was unharmed. Chen promised to testify to police about his abduction, while Suppanat was being detained for questioning.
Bootleg booze
Men arrested over alcohol
Police in Chiang Mai arrested a man and his three friends for producing bootleg alcohol at his house in Muang district on November 22. Officers seized four fake bottles of spirits and 19 empty bottles labelled with stickers of foreign and local liquor brands.
Police identified Jullakan Kludchareon, 27, as the key suspect. Watcharaphong Thapanhaya, 29, Naruepanart Deeprom, 26, and Nithit Meesri, 19, were allegedly helping him bottle the booze.
Police said the suspect’s products were popular with entertainment venues in Chiang Mai since they were sold at low prices.

Old man found dead
A 70-year-old South Korean man fell to his death. He fell from the 20th floor of a Bang Na condominium. It happened on November 21. Police think that he committed suicide.
